Erin M. Durnell joined BKR as an associate in October, 2005.  Her practice is primarily in the area of family law, including adoptions, divorce, child custody and support modifications, and guardianships.  In addition to her family law practice, Erin assists BKR clients in simple estate planning, such as the drafting of wills, health care representative powers of attorney and living wills.

Prior to joining BKR, Erin worked as a human resources director for a local medical specialty group.  She has also served on the staff of three different nonprofit organizations.  While her legal practice does not focus in these areas, Erin’s professional experiences give her unique perspective into the legal issues that surround employment, benefits administration and nonprofit organizations.  She is happy to utilize that perspective in working with BKR clients.

Born in Wisconsin, Erin grew up in the Indianapolis area and has many ties to the community. She is married with two children, and enjoys singing in the choir at her church. She earned her undergraduate degree at Purdue University in West Lafayette and her J.D. at Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis.  Erin has served the Indianapolis Bar Association as a lecturer for Bar Review since 2006 and is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Leader Series Class V.  Erin is admitted to practice law in Indiana and is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
